We completed a safe moving job in Fort Worth, TX. In this case, the customer needed help moving an Antique Fire Safe and a Jewelry Safe from one store to another. Because safes are heavy and difficult to handle, we used specialized equipment to complete the move safely.
Details of This Safe Move
The antique Mosler double door fire safe weighed approximately 4,000 pounds, the jewelry safe weighed approximately 3,500 pounds. In addition, the move involved the issue that the Mosler was too big to fit through the door at the new store, even with the doors removed! We ended up having to cut the door frame so the hinges had room to go through the doorway. Sometimes there is no tool to go buy to do what we need to. In those instances we have to make our own tools! This is one of those times. In the pictures below is a custom “through the door puller” that we made from scratch specifically just for this particular job. It allowed us to use the winch on our trailer to pull the doors off the safe as well as to pull the safe into the building and worked just as we planned. The ISM high security jewelers safe that we also moved was actually the easiest of the two safes to move! Because of these challenges, we planned the move before starting.
We used equipment designed for heavy safes to control movement and protect the property. As a result, the safe was moved without damage.
