We completed a safe moving job in Granbury, TX. In this case, the customer needed help moving a Browning Gun Safe from one home to another, then upstairs into a closet. Because safes are heavy and difficult to handle, we used specialized equipment to complete the move safely.
Details of This Safe Move
The safe weighed approximately 1,200 pounds. We moved the safe upstairs over finished wood stairs in a brand new high end home. You can see how we had to raise both landings height (making a bridge with plates and lumber underneath) to include one step, in order to have enough room to turn the safe together with the dolly. We had to do this because the safe and our stairclimber dolly together were too wide to fit between the wall and the first step at the bottom of the stairs. We had the same issue to overcome at the middle landing as well. That was a very tricky spot to be in! You can also see the aluminum plates we had custom made for this job, to both protect the wood stairs, as well as to spread the weight of the safe and the stairclimber evenly over each entire step. We placed mesh rubber under each plate to keep the plates from sliding. The bend on each plate also protected the edge of each step so any rubbing the stairclimber did would be on the plates and not on the finished wood. This was a very stressful job as the builder of the home was on hand to watch every step of the move. He reminded us several times that this was over a million dollar house. No pressure right!. Because of these challenges, we planned the move before starting. We used equipment designed for heavy safes to control movement and protect the property. As a result, the safe was moved without damage to the safe or the new home.

What Made This Move Unique
Every safe move is different. In this case, the biggest challenge was keeping the beautiful flooring protected including the finished steps. Upon completion, The builder and the new home owners were very happy, that not only did we get the safe up the stairs without a single scratch on the steps and walls, but we then also maneuvered it into a tight closet as well without any damage to the safe or the new home.
